Mike took up jump rope at age 11, and was soon competing across America, including USA Jump Rope Nationals and AAU Junior Olympics. In October, 2001, he traveled with Team USA to the World Championships in Seoul, South Korea. Since then, he has competed in every sanctioned World Championship, including those held in Belgium, Australia, Canada and South Africa. Like most others involved in jump rope, Mike dreams of making jump rope an Olympic sport. To help achieve this goal, Mike began planning to bring team jump rope to East Africa, and was soon traveling with his ropes across Tanzania and Kenya. Mike's ultimate aim: to provide new opportunities for all participants to experience success, develop healthy lifestyles, increase social ties, and take on roles of leadership and responsibility within their communities through mastery of the sport of jump rope.
This week has been feverish. Planning for the trip, contacting staff and suppliers, getting a new website ready, ordering T-shirts. I was able to import the blog into the new blog on the website. Pretty neat.
The Jump Kids Jump Movement is so excited to follow your adventures during these upcoming months! I'm glad the Movement has connected with you on our shared goal of getting ALL people in the world jumping - for one reason for another.
